Just doing their jobs.we crossed early morning at 7 am into Kaliningrad and returned at 11.30 pm. On crossing the total time taken to clear both sides was 30 minutes. We were the only people crossing. The staff were thorough and formal. PLEASE NOTE - YOU CANNOT TAKE MORE THA 100 EUROS INTO KALININGRAD. The guard allowed us to return the excess euros to our car. The return took 45 minutes in total and we were once again the only people clearing through. The scrutiny both sides is intense, be patient. MAKE FULL DISCLOSURE AS YOU ARE GOING TO BE SEARCHED.

Frightening! It seems like the customs of a third world country (or maybe it is) seems to feel bad that citizens of other countries in the European Union want and like to go to Russia. I haven't seen anything like it in the rest of the world. On the other hand, when you go to Russia everything is kindness and smiles. I think that this already explains many other things by themselves.

News from the border. 06/29/24
1. You can only carry 60 euros per person. They found more, took me away and drew up a report. Now we have to wait 5 months for a decision.
2. You can manage up to 10 thousand euros but in dollars or rubles.
3. There are parking lots near the border, you can leave your car and cross on foot.
4. If anyone knows what needs to be done to receive a minimum fine and a refund, please write.

Privet / Sveiki / Hello : we are planning a bicycle trip this summer from Lietuva to Kaliningrad and then Poland (Gdansk) ... I have read that the border is opened only to pedestrians ... but is it possible to cross the boarder from Lietuva to Russia with a bicycle ? Thanks for your answers or advice here (google maps) !
